Imagination is the key
ABOUT AI in chess
Human imagination is a unique phenomenon, a product of millions of years of evolution. It is what allowed our ancestors not only to adapt to the world, but to change it. Without imagination, the first tools would not have appeared, technologies would not have emerged, and culture would not have formed. Imagination lies at the core of everything — from fire and the wheel to space travel and digital worlds.
Over time, human imagination has given rise to various tools. One of them is artificial intelligence. Today, it allows us to solve a wide range of practical tasks. In 1997, the computer Deep Blue defeated World Champion Garry Kasparov. This became a turning point: an algorithm overcame one of the greatest minds in chess. Later, when more powerful systems emerged, the best chess players seem to lose hope...
So what do we have in the end? A tool — an algorithm — has surpassed its creator. But is this a defeat for humanity? Or, on the contrary, is it proof of the power of human thought? At Hinotu, we consider this fact as a challenge! Humanity needs new chess champions. Today, hundreds of millions of people play chess regularly around the world, but compared to the global population this is a very small share — not exceeding 5%.
The popularization of chess — Chessification — can change this picture. Quantity will turn into quality. And among billions of players, there will be those who can compete at a new level. And then humanity will reclaim the “chess crown.” These will be glorious times! Another question is: what awaits us after humans push back against AI? Perhaps AI 2.0 — but it will be a completely different story…
